Laila has nearly two decades of experience in financial and business communications and financial research and journalism. Most recently in 2010, she co-founded FinMark where she leads the firm’s financial and investor relations practice areas. She provides high-level counsel and communications consultancy to a broad range of international and Middle Eastern financial institutions, listed companies, family offices and government organisations helping them strategically build their profiles and manage their reputations across the MENA markets and globally.
Prior to establishing FinMark, she spent nearly 10 years at Financial Dynamics (now FTI Consulting), a leading City and international financial PR agency. She joined the firm in 1999 at its New York offices, established its Middle East operations in 2003, marking the launch of the region’s first specialist financial PR and investor relations company, and went on to help manage the firm’s London based developing markets practice between 2007 until 2009.
Laila began her career working as a political and economic reporter covering Middle East markets. She was also an analyst contributing to research for organisations including The Minaret Group, Eurasia Group and others. Laila holds a Masters Degree in Middle East Area Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.
